How Tap Counter counts

The large touch surface records one completed, deliberate press as one count. Pressing down alone does not count, holding does not auto-repeat, and moving or releasing outside the surface cancels the pending press.

Fast controls and targets

Use a finger, mouse, compatible pen, or Space. Space is ignored while focus is on a form control, editable field, or dialog. Add a target when reaching a number matters; fullscreen and screen-awake options are available when the browser supports them.

Correct the last action

Use Undo when the most recent press was accidental. Use Decrement when you intentionally need to lower the value without erasing the recorded action.

Local saving, offline use, and privacy

Saved separately on this device

The Tap count, name, target, settings, and history are saved separately from the general counter. Clearing browser storage can remove them, so export a Tap backup when the count matters.

Offline after the first successful load

Once the required files have been cached, the Tap Counter can continue counting without a connection. Your Tap count, label, target, and history stay in this browser and are not uploaded by CountMetrik.

Does one tap always count once?+

Yes. The tap surface is designed so one deliberate press produces one count. Touch and synthetic mouse click double-counting is suppressed, and holding does not auto-repeat.

How do I correct an accidental tap?+

Use Undo to reverse the most recent counted press. Use Decrement when you intentionally need to lower the value by the configured step rather than undoing the recorded action.

What keyboard controls can I use for fast counting?+

Press Space to count once when focus is not on a form control, editable field, or dialog. Undo: Ctrl+Z on Windows/Linux or Command+Z on macOS. Redo: Ctrl+Shift+Z on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+Z on macOS.

What happens when I reach a target?+

The progress indicator reaches 100% and completion feedback is shown once. Counting does not stop, so you can continue past the target or use Undo/Decrement to correct the value.

Will my count still be there after I close or reload the page?+

The count, name, target, settings, and history are saved in this browser and restored after a reload. Clearing browser storage or switching devices does not automatically restore them, so export a backup when the count matters.

Can the screen stay awake while I count?+

When the browser supports Screen Wake Lock, turn Keep screen awake on in Settings. It is off by default and counting still works if the browser reports unavailable or failed.
