Spacebar Counter
Count physical Space key presses without a time limit, or run a timed test and track presses per second. On a phone or tablet, tap the on-screen SPACEBAR button.
What is a spacebar counter?
A spacebar counter records deliberate presses of a physical Space key. Use unlimited Counter mode for an open-ended total, or choose Timed Test to measure a fixed period and calculate presses per second. It measures manual input; it is not an idle clicker game with upgrades or automatic points.
How to use the spacebar counter
Press the physical Space key once for each event, or tap the large on-screen SPACEBAR button on a phone or tablet. Counter mode includes −1, Undo, Redo, Set value, and an undoable Reset so you can correct the running total.
Unlimited counter or timed test
Counter mode has no time limit and restores its label, value, and correction history after reload. Timed Test uses a selected duration, reports speed, and saves completed results. Switching modes never copies or changes the unlimited counter total.
How the timed spacebar test works
Choose 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 seconds, or enter a custom duration from 1 to 300 seconds. The first accepted press counts as one and starts the timer. At zero the test finishes automatically, stops accepting presses, and shows the final total and average presses per second. Choose Run again to retry.
How presses per second is calculated
Final average presses per second equals the total accepted presses divided by the selected test duration in seconds. During a test, current presses per second counts accepted presses in the latest one-second window, while the running average divides the total by actual elapsed monotonic time.
Physical presses and held keys
Each independent physical Space key press counts once. Holding the key does not use operating-system auto-repeat to increase the score. Shortcuts pause while focus is in the label, duration, value field, button, or dialog, and modifier-key combinations are ignored.
Results, personal bests, and local saving
Completed tests save the duration, total, average speed, and completion time in this browser. Recent tests are limited to ten, and the best total for each duration is marked as a personal best. Results are local only: there is no account, cloud sync, or global ranking.
Offline and fullscreen use
After a successful visit caches the required files, the Spacebar Counter can continue offline in the same browser. Fullscreen keeps the mode, total, timer, speed, main SPACEBAR surface, retry or reset control, and exit action together. Reloading an active timed test safely returns it to Ready instead of inventing a result.
Spacebar Counter FAQ
Does holding the spacebar increase the counter repeatedly?
No. CountMetrik ignores browser key-repeat events. Release the physical Space key and press it again for each count. The on-screen button also records one count per deliberate activation.
Can I use the Spacebar Counter without a timer?
Yes. Counter mode has no time limit and keeps one running total with −1, Undo, Redo, Set value, and Reset controls.
When does the timed test start?
The first accepted Space press or on-screen button tap counts as press one and starts the selected test duration. No separate Start button is required.
Which test durations can I use?
Choose 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 seconds, or enter a custom whole-number duration from 1 to 300 seconds.
How is presses per second calculated?
The final average equals total accepted presses divided by the selected duration in seconds. Current presses per second uses accepted presses from the latest one-second window.
Can I use it on a phone or tablet?
Yes. A phone or tablet can use the large on-screen SPACEBAR button. Physical keyboard counting is available when the device and browser provide a Space key.
Are my recent results and personal bests saved?
Yes. The ten most recent completed tests and the best result for each duration save in this browser only. There is no account, cloud sync, or global leaderboard.
Can I use it offline?
After a successful online visit has cached the page, you can reopen it and count offline in the same browser. A test in progress is not restored after a reload; it safely returns to Ready.
