Manual entry and exit
What does a people counter track?
This is a manual people counter for recording a deliberate entry or exit. It does not use cameras, sensors, face recognition, or automatic detection. Use it when one person needs a private, local tally at a door, event, room, queue, or venue.
Entries, exits, and current occupancy
Entry increases current occupancy and total entries. Exit reduces current occupancy without going below zero and increases total exits. Undo restores the exact previous state. Correcting current occupancy changes only the live occupancy value; it does not change Entries or Exits.
Capacity and remaining space
Set an optional maximum capacity to see remaining space. When the limit is reached, another Entry is blocked and the tool clearly says Capacity reached.
Peak occupancy
Peak occupancy records the highest confirmed current occupancy in the session. People leaving does not lower the recorded peak.
Sessions and history
Finish a session to archive its duration, entries, exits, peak, capacity, and final occupancy. Reset starts the current session over without creating an archive. Export finished sessions as CSV or the full People workspace as JSON.
Offline use and privacy
People session data is stored locally in this browser. After a successful visit, the page can continue counting offline. It is not a safety-critical or legally required occupancy system and should not be your only record where an error could cause harm.
FAQ
What is the difference between entries, exits, and current occupancy?
Entries count people coming in, exits count people leaving, and current occupancy is the number currently inside.
What is the difference between Peak Occupancy and Total Entries?
Total Entries is the cumulative number of successful Entry actions. Peak Occupancy is the highest current occupancy reached; exits reduce current occupancy but never lower the recorded peak.
What should I do if I missed someone or tapped the wrong button?
Use Undo when the mistaken Entry or Exit is the latest operation. Otherwise open Settings and use Correct current occupancy to set the current value without inventing a new entry or exit.
Why does correcting current occupancy not change Entries or Exits?
A correction changes only the live occupancy value. Entries and Exits are event totals, so they stay unchanged instead of pretending an unknown person entered or left.
What happens when the maximum capacity is reached?
Entry is blocked at the configured capacity and the tool shows Capacity reached. Exit remains available, so the next available space is reflected in current occupancy.
What is the difference between Finish Session and Reset Session?
Finish Session archives the active totals and starts a new session. Reset Session clears the active occupancy, entry, exit, and peak values without creating an archive; the name and capacity remain.
