What is a pitch counter?
A pitch counter is a manual tool for recording every pitch thrown by a pitcher. CountMetrik keeps the active pitcher's total and the current batter's ball-and-strike count together. It does not detect pitches automatically and is not a full scorebook.
Balls, strikes, fouls, and pitches in play
Every Ball, Strike, Foul, or In Play action adds one to the active pitcher total. Four balls show Walk, three strikes show Strikeout, and In Play completes the plate appearance without deciding a hit, out, or error. Foul represents a standard foul ball; use Strike when the pitch should count as strike three under the applicable play/rule.
Changing pitchers during an at-bat
New Pitcher starts a separate pitcher total at zero and keeps earlier pitcher totals in the session. If the change happens during an at-bat, the current balls and strikes stay in place; the new pitcher receives only pitches recorded after the change.
Using a pitch limit
The optional pitch limit is a user-defined reminder with current, remaining, and progress values. Reaching it never blocks counting. Pitch limits vary by league, age, event, and season. CountMetrik records the limit you enter; always follow the rules of your league or organization.
Sessions, local saving, and offline use
Pitch Log keeps the active session's chronological pitch, plate-completion, next-batter, and pitcher-change events. Finish a session to archive that read-only event log with every pitcher total and the combined pitch total. Active and finished sessions stay in this browser under a separate Pitch Counter storage namespace. Fullscreen and optional Keep screen awake support field use; after a successful cached visit, the tool can continue working offline. No account is required.
FAQ
Does every pitch action increase the pitcher total?
Yes. Ball, Strike, Foul, and In Play each add one pitch to the active pitcher and one pitch to the current at-bat.
What happens after a walk, strikeout, or ball in play?
The completed result, final balls and strikes, and at-bat pitch total stay visible. Choose Next Batter when you are ready to reset only the current plate appearance.
What happens when I change pitchers during an at-bat?
The current balls and strikes remain. The new pitcher starts at zero and receives only pitches recorded after the change; the previous pitcher total stays in the session summary.
Does the pitch limit enforce league rules?
No. It is a user-defined reminder and never blocks counting. CountMetrik does not determine eligibility, rest requirements, or official league limits.
Can Pitch Counter work offline?
After a successful cached visit, the page can continue working offline. Active state and finished-session history are stored locally in this browser.
